WILMINGTON CPA ENTERS PLEA TO FAILURE TO FILE TAX RETURNS

(Wilmington, DE) – William M. Remington, Director of Revenue announced today that a Wilmington CPA entered a guilty plea in Superior Court for failing to file State of Delaware tax returns for three consecutive years.

Pamela Baker, 44, entered a guilty plea to three misdemeanor counts of failing to file personal income tax returns for the tax years 1998, 1999, and 2000.

An order was signed by NCC Superior Court Judge Richard R. Cooch accepting a three-year period of probation before judgment on the condition that Baker agree to perform 300 hours of community service, remain current on all tax obligations, and agree to pay full restitution, including penalties and interest, to the Delaware Division of Revenue in the amount of $48,028.

An investigation conducted by the Delaware Division of Revenue’s Criminal Investigation Unit revealed that Baker, a certified public accountant, employed in Wilmington, DE failed to file Delaware personal income tax returns from 1995 through 2000.

During the years 1998 through 2000, she earned more than $370,000 of Delaware taxable income on which an estimated $17,000 in state taxes were owed.
