1099-G Form for Reporting Certain Government Payments

For taxpayers who were expecting to receive a Form 1099-G for reporting Delaware income tax refunds received last year, Delaware will only be sending out a 1099-G if you received a refund from Delaware and itemized for federal purposes.

Under the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, the federal standard deduction has dramatically increased, resulting in a large number of taxpayers no longer needing to itemize for federal purposes. While the Division of Revenue sent out over 180,000 1099-G forms in 2019, only 112,000 were sent in 2020 as a result of fewer refund claims at the state level and fewer people itemizing for federal purposes.
